More than plain old green, his eyes are the green that can bring an earth back to life after an unforgiving cold. A beacon of hope in the dreariest of days, a green that can guide you, yet make you feel shunned all the while. His fur, extraordinary and unalike most that surround him, holds patches blanketing his back like stains of coal. In his pelt weaves dark gray, almost silver tabby markings over his legs and tail. His coat is a color that brings to mind the scent of burning wood being licked away by scarlet flames. Circling his eyes he sports a white mask, reaching back and fading up to his ears and cheeks, mimicking tabby stripes. His maw is the same dirty white color, freckled with black spots. Coalbreeze has a rather long and heartbreaking history filled with disappointment in his love life and adventure into warriorship. As a kit, he was born to Twigleg besides his brother, Scorchkit. Before his littermate could reach the next day, his lungs failed. Coalbreeze never knew how to feel about this death, since he doesn't even remember his brother's face, although he wonders frequently how things would have been if he grew up with Scorchkit. What really impacted him most throughout his life is the lack of influence from a father. Most of his life, he went without knowing who the tom was. Twigleg was never really considered close to any toms in the clan other than her best friend, Rockpelt. Many assumed he could have fathered the kits despite having a mate of his own, others thought that Twigleg could have mated with someone outside the clan. Though these were just whispers that fluttered through the camp as rumors. Coalkit was especially sensitive about being called a "kittypet" by the other kits. As he got older, he had eventually learned to be okay with it. He made friends with Deerpelt and Foxflame, and eventually but less easily, Doemoon. Life had become easier with his friends, for a while at least. He started having feelings for Doemoon later on in their friendship, after moons and moons of arguing and never getting along. His feelings for Foxflame was always off and on, but still dwindled underneath his heart. Coalbreeze was always sort of hard to like due to his bossy attitude and need to be followed, but it came easily for Foxflame. Despite all the support she showed him, he had a blind eye to this due to his growing feelings for Doemoon. After all, it's hard not to become close to someone you have shared trauma with, and grow apart from someone you have nothing in common with. Their friendship seemed to be going well, until a battle with ReedClan broke out and he murdered the medicine cat of their rival clan when it was revealed that Shellbreeze was his real father. Because of this, he turned his back on the life of medicine cats and he was promoted to deputy for his "heroism" as the entire clan had believed he killed Shellbreeze because the tom was attacking his mother. He was made deputy based on a lie, and only Twigleg and Doemoon knew about it. His name was chanted with his victory, but they knew the truth. His mother lied for him to keep him safe, and Doemoon kept quiet, though she tried to convince Coalbreeze to speak the truth. He ignored it, knowing the consequences would be harsh and they grew apart. He began spending time with Foxflame and Deerpelt again, which had sent Foxflame over the moon. She was thrilled to have the opportunity to grow closer with his friend, and in her mind, someday her mate. They were getting along, but eventually Coalbreeze couldn't stand the friendship that he had lost with Doemoon and they reconnected. It wasn't long before they became mates. Everything was going well, until Doemoon decided her true path was to be a healer for her clan after the death of their medicine cat. She broke off their relationship and Coalbreeze was furious with her. He had a strong dislike for medicine cats since the event with his father, and he wanted no part of it. Their relationship came to an abrupt ending. He still spent time with Foxflame, and he later asked her to become his mate after becoming a leader, but his advances were rejected. The she-cat had found someone else after so long of pining after Coalbreeze. Even though they grew apart romantically, they still respected one another deeply. Life went on and he kept his lie close.
