When Twigpaw first became a runner apprentice, she dared adventure the border between BreezeClan and ReedClan with her other apprentice friends. She was dared to step into the water, and she did, as any dumb apprentice would, but slipped on a rock and dove into a deeper part of the lake. ReedClan's medicine cat noticed her thrashing in the water and her friends panicking and went in after her. Since then, Twigpaw was intrigued and grateful for the medicine cat. She couldn't help but to go back, alone, and he had the same thought as she, but more of a concern for how she was doing since the traumatic experience. Shellbreeze and Twigpaw warmed up to each other rather quickly, and became mates secretly. This went on for the rest of her apprenticeship, and until she became pregnant with his kits. She believed it was true love, and as much as he longed to be with her, his clan needed him and his oath as a medicine cat wouldn't allow their relationship to proceed. Once kits came into question, he made the hard decision to break off their relationship. Every once in a while at gatherings, they would look at one another with smiles, remembering the nights they spent together.

Twigpaw first developed feelings for Rockpaw as they grew into apprentices. They had different interests, but they were closer than ever. They would do everything together, at least until Jaypaw moved into the apprentice den. She was in friendly competition with her new denmate, but as she watched the two get closer and closer together, she decided it was worth it to let the two be happy together. While she always held some love for Rockpelt, it wasn't a romantic love, as she fell for another tom. She always remained respectful with his relationship with Jaymoon, and they were all close friends.

Jaymoon was her second best friend, after Rockpelt. Jaymoon moved into the nursery, pregnant with Rockpelt's kits a few moons after Twigleg had her kits. After the death of Jaymoon's daughter, Fawnkit, Twigleg decided to remain a queen for the remainder of Jaymoon's stay, despite her son moving out of the nursery. She cares about Doemoon and Deerpelt as if they were her own kits.

Coalkit was born to Twigleg alongside Scorchkit. She absolutely adored her son, as he was the spitting image of his father, Shellbreeze. At his naming ceremony, she requested her son to be named Coalbreeze, though didn't give away that the name was given after Shellbreeze. When Coalbreeze murdered her former mate in front of her, she became distant from her son, though still felt an intense love for him. Despite all the affection she has for Coalbreeze, she is afraid she will never be able to look at him the same again. Sometimes she wonders if she was wrong to hide the truth.

They have been clanmates for as long as she can remember, but they haven't talked much before Mousestar created a new rule that no runners or diggers could leave camp without a striker's guidance. Since then, the two just clicked and began to grow closer together. She was lonely, losing her mate, her sons, and not having many friends in BreezeClan. Secretly, Twigleg wonders if it was a blessing in disguise.

Appledove was Twigpaw's first mentor. She trained under her as a runner. The two weren't exactly close, always butting heads on differing opinions, but cared for eachother nonetheless. When Twigpaw discovered she was pregnant, Appledove was the first she told, overwhelmed with fear. Appledove was disappointed in her young apprentice, but decided that being a runner at a time like that wasn't the best. She asked Mousestar to replace her with a digger mentor, so Twigpaw could still be of use during her pregnancy but only take easy tasks.
