Doepaw sat outside her leader‘s den. She‘d been instructed to wait outside while her mentor and leader chatted. The apprentice waited patiently trying not to catch ear of what her superiors were saying. Hazelpelt stormed out of the den. “Come on Doepaw.“ she ordered. Doepaw jumped To her paws and chased after her mentor, her limp slowing her down. The apprentice‘s back Leg never fully healed after the fox attack. “Hey wait Hazelpelt we need a striker with us! We aren’t allo-“ Hazelpelt whipped around to face Doepaw. “We are fully capable of handling oursleves.” She hissed furiously before marching off. Doepaw stood stunned. She caught sight of Jumpwing. Doepaw quickly limped over to him. “Jumpwing, Hazelpelt’s really mad about... well I don’t know but she insists we don’t need a striker.“ she hesitated. “I’ve got to catch up or she’ll be suspicious but I... would you... maybe stay close by? I know Mousestar will have it with her if she doesn’t obey him.” Hazelpelt called for Doepaw. “I-I cant stay! I hope you follow.” The she cat raced off tracking her mentor Down by her scent. The limp in her left leg catching every now and then, slowing the molly down.

(Okay I just have to remember what exactly I had planned for Coal as a warrior because I forgot xD
should we make a part five? XD)
(short time skip? I made Coal a warrior in an open rp so I'm ready :D)
Doepaw stares after the two. She curled her tail around her paws and lay down. The sun low in the sky. Deerpelt nodded. “Sure we can get some before heading off.” He padded away not giving his sister another look.
Foxpaw just stared after Doepaw, occasionally casting an awkward glance to Coalpaw. Her tail danced behind her in a twitch of worry. She hadn't seen anything herself, but she could tell by the tension in the air that things weren't going well. She tried to shake it off. "Anyways..." She shuffled her paws. "I was going to bring you some prey earlier, but Cloudfeather told me I couldn't see you yet. I'm so glad to see you're finally out of that smelly den."
Coalpaw's expression softened ever so slightly. "Thanks, Foxpaw," he murmured with a faint smile. The tom glanced at Doepaw before looking back, still lingering in the entrance of the den. "Actually, I could go for some prey right about now. What about you, Deerpelt?"
"He might be okay. It looks like the wound is finally clotting." Cloudfeather's voice was lifted with higher spirits, pleased by the progress they made.
(She's angryyyyy xD everyone else is just like o-o okay sheeeesh)
Deerpelt couldn’t help but snicker at the she cat. She had so fallen for the Tom but he knew that Coalpaw had no interest in her. “Mousestar lost a life or something. Ask Doepaw she was there when it happened.” He flicked his tail in the direction of his sister. He turned his head back to Coalpaw. “Actually what I heard is Hazelpelt is pregnant.” Doepaw was listening to their conversation from afar. But after hearing Deerpelt’s sneering tone towards her old mentor was unacceptable. The she cat stormed over to Deerpelt. “Mind your own business and gossip some place else. Don’t you understand that everyone is afraid of what will happen? It’s no time for your gossip side to come out.” She snarled harshly. The she cats knew what he was saying was correct but she wouldn’t stand for it. Not when her clan, her leader, were in a worrisome place. She turned her attention towards the others. “I was standing outside to make sure no one goes in. You should all be off.” She grunted. Turning tail and sitting directly outside the medicine den. Hazelpelt over heard Doepaw’s words. She felt her heart lighten at the she cat standing up for the molly. Doepaw while acting tough and harsh had a soft side for the cats she cared about. Of course Hazelpelt knew this as Doepaw and Hazelpelt despite no longer being mentor and apprentice had grown closer in their friendship. The she cat turned her attention to the medicine cats. “How is he doing? Will he be alright?” Her light and dull tone masked a deeper fear at loosing her mate. (Omg doe just got so madddd also doe has known for ages about Hazelpelt’s pregnancy she just kept it a secret XD)
Coalpaw rolled his eyes at her and dismissed the she-cat with a flick of his tail. He turned to the younger warrior and let out a sigh. "I just... Can't stand seeing Jumpwing like that. I know he's worried about his mentor, but he's afraid to show it." He glanced back at the medicine den. "And poor Hazelpelt... What's going to happen to her if he dies?"
His thoughts were invaded by the pawsteps of Foxpaw. The dark-furred she-cat's eyes were bright. "Coalpaw!" She stepped forward to touch his cheek with her muzzle. Her eyes dimmed as she saw the tom's expression, and glanced at Deerpelt with concern. "What's wrong?"
Doepaw shot Coalpaw a glare. “Butt your nose out of it, if you had actually been listening I was telling my dearly beloved brother that our leader is more important.” The she cat stiffly limped away from the two. Her heart beated viciously against her chest as she tried to force down the feeling of fear. Afraid for her leader. Afraid for her clan. Afraid... of the shadows. “Doey~” Houndleap whispered into her ear. Doepaw ignored the voice and headed to the entrance of the camp. She sat there and stared out, not daring to step past the invisible line she though protected her. Deerpelt watched his sister go with a wicked scowl on his face. He turned to Coalpaw. “Of course I’m concerned for our leader but worrying over him will do nothing. We have to remain strong. Carry on and wait for the outcome.” While his words may have been true they were not his own. Houndleap’s invisible shadow whispered into his ear.
(Coal is chilli xD)
Coalpaw was watching, horrified as his leader sat dying among them. The siblings' wprds caught his attention and he gave them a glare. The tom pushed himself to his paws with a gunt and padded past them. "Give them space, will you?" He snapped. "Hazelpelt is scared out of her mind and Mousestar is dying and you two want to start arguing?" His fur was bristling, but it was mostly fear for his clanmates that brought it on. The tom shook his head. Unbelievable.
(OMG I FORGOT ITS DEERPELT HHH)
Hazelpelt stared down at him, keeping her expression blank. She knew that if he saw her upset it would stress him out. “It’ll be okay.” She murmured quietly. Trying to convince herself more so than him. Truth me told she didn’t know if it would be okay. She didn’t know what would happen. Hawkpaw rushed back and forth to get as many cobwebs as he could. “That’s all we have, will it be enough?” Doepaw’s head bounced up at her approaching brother. “What happened?” He called padding up to her at a steady pace. The she cat glanced back at the medicine den. “We were attacked by rogues, they ambushed us. Mousestar was injured... badly.” The she cat stood up and her wounds stung. That’s when she realised she’d been hurt. Doepaw’s fur was littered in a few small scratches along with a big one crossing her chest. Luckily it wasn’t too deep, but it still irritated her. Deerpaw watched as she winced. “You should get that checked, if you’re not careful you’ll get an infection.” His tone was not caring, it was distracted. Doepaw glanced at him out of the corner of her eyes and moved to pad away. “I can handle myself, Deerpaw, our leader is more important.” (Lmao where did coal go?)
The white tom took the cobwebs in his paw and started to dab it over Mousestar's wound. "It's not sticking well," he told them. "He's got a lot of blood on him, but it should at least help it slow if we hold it here."
Mousestar stared up at Hazelpelt. He felt somewhat at peace now, but the world was closing in around him. He was left with yet another blank expression. Cloudfeather could his energy melting. "We need more."
Hawkpaw didn’t take a second to process anything instead he ran to back and quickly grabbed the cobwebs. He handed the cobwebs to cloudfeather. Hazelpelt knew his chances were thin. Extremely. But she believed in him. “He’s on two.” She meowed, her words a quiet choke. “I... I saw it. It has to be two.”
Mousestar could barely hear what was going on around him, but Hazelpelt's words made him claw at the ground as he struggled to fight. "Kits?" It was the only thing he could manage to sputter. A very faint smile tugged at his lips.
Jumpwing stared at the tom. The tom shook his head. "I don't know," he said honestly. "But what I do know is that he had four lives before we left this camp." Jumpwing gritted his teeth. His gaze glossed over with worry and terror.
Cloudfeather snapped his head to Hawkpaw. "Get cobwebs, fast. We need to patch this wound."
Hawkpaw rushed in from the back of the den as the stench of blood filled the cramped space. His eyes widened at the sight of his leader. “How many lives has he lost?!” Hazelpelt ignored the conversation between all the cats. Her face blank as she knelt down to whisper into his ear. “You listen to me. You’re going to pull through this. Not for the sake of the clan. Not for my sake but for your unborn kits sake.” She licked the top of his ear gently and pulled away. Watching only his face. Doepaw caught word of Hazelpelt’s news. She had already guessed so but didn’t say out loud. The news only confirmed the she cats suspicions. She sat down outside. Planning on staying there until she was told otherwise.
(HE'S COMING FOR HER OOOF)
Cloudfeather heard the clamber of pawsteps outside the den. He turned his back to Coalpaw and angled his ears toward the noise. The scent of bitter blood washed over him. "What now?" He growled to himself. Mousestar was carried into the den. He was losing yet another life. His eyes were finding to stay open. Jumpwing helped him to lay on the dirt floor of the den. "Cloudfeather," he panted. He glanced toward Hazelpelt. He knew, even though she tried to hold herself together for Mousestar's sake, she wasn't far from breaking down herself. "Mousestar is losing a lot of blood."
Doepaw watched as Hazelpelt and Jumpwing attempted to help her leader. She wanted to tell them they needed to patch up the blood before he lost another life. She wanted to tell them moving him was a bad idea. She wanted to tell them that she... she had a choice. She was a murderer. Lingering in the field the she cat took in the blood and gore of the situation. She didn’t want this. She didn’t want this. Why did she have this? She was never meant for the job of a striker. She was never meant for the job of a runner. What was she meant for. The fawn coloured she cat watched her surroundings melt away into a blood forest. Where before her stood the Tom she had just killed. “I’m coming for you.” Hissed the Tom as he crouched down to whisper into her ear. “Everyone you love will hate you. Your love will be your death.” Doepaw scurried after the cats leaving behind the bloody massacre. Echoes of laughter followed her footsteps through the forest as she emerge red form it’s dark depths into the familiar one. The torment would never stop. Her leader was dying. They had been attacked. She had been attacked. She had fought back. She had killed. She is a murderer.
Jumpwing's ears pricked at the call of his name as they neared. His heart dropped in his chest. He hadnthadn't truly seen the gore until he stood back to really examine it. Blood scattered the heathers. He ran to meet the two. Mousestar looked weak. "We need to get him back right away," Jumpwing told them. "Come on." He fell into step beside his leader. The tom nearly fell over but was caught by the tom.
Doepaw nodded solemnly staring at his body. She was completely shaken and unable to bring herself to talk. Hazelpelt let the she cat scrambled away. Her head snapped towards the Tom. “Jumpwing! Doepaw!” She called as she ran towards her mate. “Mousestar it’s okay it okay! You - you’ll be okay!” She murmured her voice wavering as she tried to stay strong and not cry.
(Imma dumb this guy down to one life lmao. Poor baby, I would feel bad if I didn't love making my characters suffer so much)
Jumpwing approached, his eyes staring down at the mass of bloody fur. He showed no other emotion, but he was uncertain. Doepaw didn't seem like she could have been strong enough to take a warrior of his size and strength, let alone his life. Jumpwing rested his tail on her flank. "These things happen. Warriors don't kill unless they must. In this case, you did what you had to." He didn't dare ask how exactly they ended up way over here, but he assumed she was chased away. He let out a sigh. "We will have to come back for him. Mousestar is injured very badly."
Mousestar's breaths seemed to be coming out as shallow puffs of air. Everything around him was going in and out of focus, but his eyes remained on the figure that he could barely make out to be his mate. "Hazelpelt..." He murmured. His body began to shake. "I don't feel well."
((MOUSIE NOOoo)) Doepaw’s head snapped towards her mentor. She staggered aimlessly towards him. “He’s-HES DEAD! I k- killed him Jumpwing!” The she cat didn’t sound proud or happy at all at the news of his death. Her voice was defeated and flat. She knew she couldn’t tell her mentor what actually happened but it still felt like she’d killed him. She could see everything... hear everything but... she couldn’t do anything. She had been trapped in her own body unable to control her words, her paws, her thoughts... Houndleap had got inside her head. In more ways than one. Hazelpelt staggered to her feet. “Mousestar!” She cried as she watched him wobble, barely able to sustain himself. The she cat pounced at the grey tabby. She pinned her down and nipped at her throat. “Leave and don’t come back.” She snarled ferociously. The she cat beneath her scrambled away fleeing into the bushes with her tail between her legs.
A few minutes passed and Mousestar gasped for a breath. He felt as if all his energy had been sucked right out of his body. The gash on his throat still gushed with blood. It was as if he could feel all of his blood leaving his body slowly. The tom staggered toward the cat that pinned his mate. It took all the rest of the strength he had in him just to drag them off with a grip of his claws. Mousestar paused. The earth around him was spinning. Oh StarClan, no, he thought. I'm dying.
Jumpwing found himself running through the heather. The small strip of land between the cliff and the lake took him to the forest. He breathed, looking around frantically. He could smell blood, but it was hard to distinguish if if was his own, his enemies, or possibly even Doepaw's. He preyed that horrid scent didn't come from his apprentice's body. The tom ran through the trees, his strides almost making him appear as if he were gliding along the ground. He stopped as her fawn colored coat came into view. "Doepaw!"
(gotta make Mousestar lose several lives in a row x'D)
Hazelpelt cried out in agony for her mate. She ran over to him before being tackled by another she cat. The she cat pinned Hazelpelt down. The she cat stared up at her with teary eyes. She couldn’t move beneath the she cat frozen to the spot. Doepaw stumbled back into the clearing. Blood drenching her fur. “HES DEAD!” She cried. (So dramatic XD)
(LOL I'm deceased xD)
(tbh if this was a tv show 11/10 would watch)
Mousestar backed away from the cat. His breathing was hard. "I..." For once, he was at a loss. The attack was so surprising and out of nowhere. His eyes flickered to Hazelpelt for a moment, and as he was distracted, the she-cat jumped forward and lashed out with a paw, catching her claws against Mousestar's throat. The small tom's eyes widened and turned to slits. Blood pooled at the wound and dripped down his chest. He fought for a breath, but instead sputtered the red liquid from his mouth. His eyes were trained on his mate, fear glossing his gaze as he collapsed. His paws twitched as he felt the life drain from him. "H-h-h," he reached for her name, but his vocals failed.
Jumpwing let out a growl, agonized by pain and the sight of his leader's life leave his body. "No!" He leapt over Mousestar's body and tackled the she-cat, driving his teeth into her neck as rage filled his chest. His eyes flickered over the cats, and he stopped with realization. Where was Doepaw?
(noooOOO MOUSIE BOI but also do it XD) Hazelpelt hissed at the Tom who held her down. She kicked the Tom backwards and scrambled over to her mate and friend. “What do we do they’re twice our size?!” Doepaw leaped our of the was of the Tom Landing delicately on her toes. She pranced about playfully. “Your techniques are slow and you’re beginning to bore me.” She drooled. The Tom lunged at her once more a loud growl sounding in frustration the she cats claws ripped against his neck fur. He dropped to the ground, blood quickly pooling out from him. “Whoopsie...” Doepaw let out a sigh. Houndleap watched from outside Doepaw’s body. “Have fun with that Doey.” She giggled playfully before vanishing. Doepaw stared in horror at the corpse. What had /she/ done? What had /she/ done? What had... Houndleap done.
(Possessed Doe gives me shivers LOL)
Jumpwing only had enough time in between his swipes to examine Doepaw. He felt relief flood through him despite all the adrenaline. She was okay, but she looked stronger than ever. She seemed different. Jumpwing let out a gasp as he was shoved back. Mousestar was fighting beside him. The she-cat who fought him was about twice his size, but the tom held strong.
(I might make Mousey lose a life. He needs some death action lmao)
Doepaw’s head snapped towards her mentor. The tom above her snarled, his jaws parted as he got ready to deliver the killing bite. Doepaw kicked the Tom with all her strength sending him flying off her. The fawn coloured she cat ran at the tree and bounced off it forcing the Tom cat down onto the ground again. “You know you should kill him Doey~” Teased the facials she cat. Doepaw was distracted for a moment and the Tom kicked Doepaw off. She hit the ground and the air rushed from her lungs. She lay winded, that was all it took for Houndleap to infiltrate her. Doepaw leaped to her feet hissing. Her techniques precise. She leaped at the Tom scratching his cheek, drawing blood. The Tom looked startled at her sudden strength. “Oh what’s wrong scared of a little she cat?” Drooled Doepaw, or rather Houndleap. “Not in the slightest!” Snapped the looming dark Tom, his muscles ripples in response. “Then come and get me.” She teased winking at the Tom. He growled in aggravation at the sudden she cats confidence and he linger for her throat. (Possessed doe is so fun!!)
"Doepaw!" Jumpwing hissed. He leapt toward the tom that pinned her, but was instead met with the impact of another body that shielded him. His eyes widened with surprise as claws slid across his cheek. He staggered backwards, catching himself on his paws. The tom's chest heaved. "Remember what I taught you." As the other cat stood on their hind paws to strike, the brown and white warrior lashed out with his paws, one blow after another to their underbelly.
Doepaw watched in terror as the cats were tackled to the ground. Too surprised for words. A dark Tom cat littered in scars followed them from behind. He did not jump at them or attack he simply sat there watching. Watching with a satisfied, wicked grin. That’s when it hit Doepaw. He was the Tom that attacked /her/. Without thinking the young apprentice leaped onto the cat who was still twice her size. The surprise attack knocked the wind from his chest. Before Doepaw could pin him he managed to recuperate himself and kicked the she cat off him. Doepaw landed awkwardly, her stance wobbly. Yelping in surprise as he pounced on her. The she cat’s fear over came her and for a moment she forgot her training. A moment is all it takes to make the biggest mistake. Just a moment... ‘Starclan help me!’ Her thoughts begged.
"Do you smell that?" Jumpwing brushed his tail against Doepaw's chest, signalling her to stop. The tom's white fur bristled along his spine. Mousestar's pace slowed and he rose his maw to the sky to give it a sniff. His eyes narrowed as he glanced over at Hazelpelt and Jumpwing. "Someone else is here."
A gray she-cat nodded to her leader and stalked through the brush. She crouched low, her claws were digging at the ground, hungry for flesh. She sprang from her cover alongside the others and felt the impact of her paws hit a body.
Doepaw trailed behind the patrol. Mousestar, Jumpwing and Hazelpelt at the head. The four cats padded past the clearing where Hazelpelt and Doepaw had been attacked a few months earlier by the fox. The she cat sighed. Exhaustion hung heavy on her shoulders and it was reflected in her eyes. Houndleap has been tormenting her non-stop but the she cat was trying to convince herself she wasn’t there. Doepaw hadn’t spoken to Hawkpaw nor Cloudfeather since that night despite seeing Coalpaw everyday. A group of rogues stalked the cats down wind. Their muscles rippling along their scar littered bodies. A wicked grin crossed the leader Tom cats face. He flicked his tail in a sign to attack.
(that was intense lmao)
* * *
"Now, touch your paws together," Cloudfeather ordered.
Coalpaw took in a breath and brought his hind paws together and held them there. He let out an awkward sigh. "What is the point of all this?" He grumbled.
"We're testing to see if you're completely healed."
Coalpaw glanced down at his tail. It had been crushed by the rocks. No matter what Cloudfeather tried to do, it wouldn't straighten out. A couple moons later and it had held a crooked appearance. He breathed out deeply through his nose, his shoulders sinking in disappointment. At least I'll be able to get back to training.
Hawkpaw looked back at Doepaw before running after his mentor. He’d pay for this later.
Doepaw stood, looking on helplessly. She’d done nothing wrong it was that irritating Hawkpaw who just had to butt his nose into her business again. The she cats thoughts were interrupted by the wicked cooing of Houndleap. Doepaw ignored her and trailed after them. “Aww Doey don’t ignore me, you know you want to.” Doepaw hissed At her. “Want to what? I have no idea who you are or what you want with me! Leave me be.“ her upper lip curled into a ferocious snarl. Her eyes narrowing into slits of fury. Houndleap giggled like she was a kit. “Oh Doey the fun is only beginning.” The she cat stood in front of the apprentice towering over her. “Ever thought why you can hear and see me? Even though you’re not dreaming? We’re connected Doemoon. You and I we’re so alike in our ways. So... forbidden.” She laughed wickedly before vanishing once more. Her laugh echoed in Doepaw’s ears. Leaving a mark on her that would be everlasting.
They were forbidden.
But how?
(He is blind af xD and I will swat those kitties noses with a rolled up newspaper like the bad cats they are)
Cloudfeather let out a growl and lashed his tail. "Stop it, both of you, you're acting like kits." The medicine cat angled his head in Hawkpaw's direction. "It doesn't matter how blind I am, my word is your law and you need to listen." He twitched his whiskers angrily. "Now both of you, get back to camp and go to your nests. I don't want to hear any more." The medicine cat began to pad in the direction of the camp, picking his way through the grass with no other help of direction than his ears and nose.
Doepaw reluctantly got off the Tom cat. Hawkpaw watched as she did so. He brushed himself down, he felt his skin under his fur heat up realising with embarrassment that he’d been attacked by Doepaw. He cleared his throat. “Yes I did, I know I shouldn’t have but you’re no better going alone at night being a blind medicine cat and all (I’m assuming he’s blind XD) with an apprentice none the less.” he meowed his voice sounding all fancy. ”and one whos clearly going insane.” he teased.
Doepaw grumbled an inaudible reply. She was furious that the Tom had followed them but also majorly embarrassed shed attacked a medicine cat in training. “Yeah well maybe you should but your nose out of it and stick it in your own business.” she mumbled angrily. Hawkpaw laughed at her. “You sound like an angry chipmunk.” Doepaw childishly stick out her tongue which only made the Tom laugh more. She scowled furiously at him until she saw Houndleap lurking in the shadows. The she cat grinned wickedly before vanishing.
(PFFT they won’t leave her alone they Need her XD)
Cloudfeather was about to open his mouth to reply when the sound of rustling came near. The tom tensed where he stood. "Hawkpaw!" He hissed, stepping forward. He rested his tail on Doepaw's shoulder. "Let him up," he told her. "And Hawkpaw, you shouldn't be out here. Did you follow us?"
(poor Doe XD leave her alone Dark Forest ;(
Doepaw shook her head and got to her paws. Her ears pinned back. “I’m not going back there! they’re covered in BLOOD!” She meowed, her voice rising in fear.
“Doemoon...” a voice called behind her. “SHUT UP!” Growled Doepaw pouncing at a cat.
”gAh!” Hawkpaw wriggled under the she cat. “Doepaw get off me!“ he gruffed. Doepaw looked taken aback and bewildered. “H-how... but you were her! She said my name! But it’s not my name stop calling me that!” She shouted at no one in particular for the three cats were alone in the field.
(she kinda going a little insane XD)
Cloudfeather snorted. "Of course it's bad. Do you think they just want to have a friendly conversation over some fresh kill?" He shook his head. "No, they don't. But we don't know what they actually want. You have to find that out."
Doepaw turned to him and shrugged. “It must’ve been a few moons ago. When I got injured by the fox attack, I guess that was the day after I became an apprentice.” She pondered for a moment. “Do you think it’s bad? That they talk to me...”
Cloudfeather blinked with wonder. "Even when you're awake?" It was unusual and rare for any cat to hear the voices of the ones who passed before them in their waking moments. "When did this begin?"
Doepaw frowned at his expression. “/she/ calls me Doemoon.” She meowed. She watched her surroundings carefully. The way each shadow flickered. “I always hear them.”
Cloudfeather was taken aback for a moment, but shoved it off quickly
"You still hear them?" A doomed expression dawned in his eyes. "What do they call you?"
Doepaw sat quietly listening to him. A cold winter breeze blew through her fur, she shivered. Not from the cold but from the whispering voices. “I don’t want you!” She snapped. “Sorry cloudfeather I just... it wasn’t at you. But I keep hearing them. They keep talking to me. Calling me by a different name...”
"Well did you have to pick such a cold spot?" He grumbled. Cloudfeather sat and curled his tail over his paws. "Those things aren't just things. I would call them monsters, myself." His whiskers twitched. "They don't just visit your dreams for no reason. They could do it solely for torment, yes, but it's not likely. They could have picked any target weak enough, and yet they chose you. Most of them are dead cats that have no business being in StarClan. Yet some of them are alive. They chose you for a reason. This is usually a sign, but the meaning is harder to discover."
Doepaw turned to him. “We’re here.” She was standing in a small field. It was littered with pale pink flowers. It was the same field she’d been attacked by the intruder. It sent shivers down her spine but she knew that no one would Be here... hopefully not the intruder. “Okay explain. What where those... things! And why on Earth have they been like stalking us?!”
(lol Cloud is gonna be so pissed at that kid XD)
Cloudfeather pricked his ears and followed closely behind Doepaw. He listened to her pawsteps and angled himself in that direction as he padded along. "How far is it?"
Doepaw pondered the thought, while her medicine cat was right the she cat knew she was a terrible liar and Jumpwing seemed smart enough to to find out the truth. She shrugged it off, she’d cross that bridge when she had to. For now she had other, bigger, things to worry about. “We should talk.” Doepaw glanced over her shoulder at the sleeping Hawkpaw. “I know a place... follow me.” she meowed. First allowing him him to finish healing her and then she headed out, leading the med cat away from camp.
Hawkpaw opened one eye. “Dead cat...?” He mumbled quietly to himself. Slyly he got up and decided to follow them from a distance and figure out why Doepaw had been attacked by a dead cat... and why
Cloudfeather shrugged, as if almost dismissing the protest. He pulled away. "You could tell him it happened while you were training, or you could tell him you were showing off with the other apprentices. Either way, it will be more believable than telling him you got it from a possibly dead cat."
Doepaw gulped, the stinging worsened at the gulp. She winced at the touch of the Tom but stayed still anyways. “I didn’t know that...” she mumbled. “wait I wasn’t bothering Coalpaw he wanted me...” she shook her head, it didn‘t matter not now at least. ”Jumpwing Will notice the scratch... what do I tell him?”
Cloudfeather's ears twitched at the sound of Doepaw. "You really shouldn't be bothering Coalpw," he stated simply as he skimmed over the herbs. "And yes, I know you were in there. Now sit so I can take care of that scratch. We need to go on a walk. We can't risk anyone hearing about this." He pulled out a dock leaf and began to chew it as he turned to approach. He spat the chewed leaves onto his paw and began rubbing it on Doepaw's scratch. "If you didn't learn this by now, they can hurt you in this world. It doesn't matter if it's in a dream. You'll wake up with whatever wounds those cat's deal you."
Doepaw got to her paws and cautiously headed around the back of the medicine den. “Psst cloudfeather?” She murmured quietly in hopes of not waking Hawkpaw or Coalpaw.
Cloudfeather watched, eyes widening as the action happened before his eyes. But before he could step forward to do anything about it, he awoke in his nest. The den was dark and he remembered once more that his blindness overruled in the physical world. The medicine cat shook himself and shifted in his nest. The scent of blood already filled the back of the den and he realised Doepaw had already been there. The tom got up from his nest and moved toward the holes of the wall where the herbs sat in the walls.
Doepaw nodded. Although the she cat didn’t quite know how to wake herself but she thought maybe if she went back through where she came from she could. ”Where are you going?” meowed the fawn coloured cat, who’s pelt now glittered red from bloody wounds. “I’m going back to my nest.” “NO!” Hissed the she cat cutting in front of her. “You have to stay.” She growled threateningly. Doepaw’s ears flattened in fear. “Let me wake up.” Doepaw hissed back as equally threatening but she knew she was more afraid then she sounded. The she cat lunges for her throat and in that moment Doepaw woke up with a jerk. She was back. Doepaw felt a stinging down at her throat. A small Stream or blood trickled down. The strange she cat had just grazed her, but it still stung like mad.
"Cloudfeather's eyes glided over the trees suspiciously. The fur along his spine still bristled. "These cats want something," he told her quietly, but his voice still seemed to echo with strength in the darkness. "We can't talk here, it's too dangerous. Wake yourself and meet me in the back of the medicine den."
Doepaw’s Eyes widened in disbelief. “W-why would she bring me?!” she exclaimed her voice rising in panic. “I don’t want to be here!“ her breaths grew shorter as her panic rose. “She’s been visiting me for months! Cloudfeather I’ve been here fo-“ she cut herself off realising she was talking to her med cat. “Cloud feather why are you here?”
Cloudfeather was low, but among the stench of death was another living cat. He padded toward it, but carefully. Once he realised who it was, he answered her question in a whisper. "The Place of No Stars," he murmured. "A place for death and darkness where troubled souls exist."
Doepaw ran into a field. Her sides heavy. She had followed the fawn she cat through the forest. The moon hung low in the sky and no starts appeared. She felt eyes follow her but could see no cats. “Where have you brought me?” She hissed furiously.
The white tom was turned in the field. It was dark, but not like a darkness that you would see during a regular night. The moon was hanging in the sky, but was shaded over and gave the night a murky tone to it. He had been here before. It was... Unsettling, to say the least. The tom's usually blue clouded eyes were darker, and he could see again. The fur along his spine bristled. Trees surrounded the field and he could hear whispers. They were low, barely audible. "She follows the path," they said. "She follows, she follows." It was as if multiple voices were talking to him at once.
"What does it mean?" He called to the shadows. Everything fell silent for a moment when he heard the rustling behind him. Cloudfeather turned, casting his gaze over his shoulder.
Doepaw sat up and watched him. ”why would you look for more?” Meowed someone behind her. the she cat jumped. “I told you to stop looking.” At all fawn coloured she cat hissed at her, her voice low and wicked. The fawn coloured cat padded away. Doepaw jumped to her paws quietly and ran after her. “This is all a dream, why must you torment me?” She growled lowly, her voice containing an underlying threat. “The only one to torment you is yourself and your foolish mistakes.” The cat growled in return.
(omg cloudfeather should come outtttttt and be all like yo XD)
Coalpaw just gave her a shrug and yawned as he got back into a comfortable position. "You won't beat me," he told her, the confidence in his voice drowned by tiredness. It wasn't long until he was able to fall back into sleep.
Doepaw nodded biting her tongue until she could taste the bitter salty familiar blood. “Of course I’ll be able to. Dont let me keep you awake you need as much as you can get so I can battle you.” She meowed quietly trying to make her voice as playful as she could, but a tension creeped up into it.
(ooooh. they need to have a dream session :D)
He blinked at her. He still hadn't slept off those poppyseeds and sleep was creeping up on him but he fought it as he shook his head. "Are you going to be able to sleep?"
Doepaw nodded. It took her a moment before her lungs Filled with air again. She let out a sigh. “Only a dream...” she mumbled. “it’s late go back to sleep.”
(omg imagine Doe questioned cloud feather about her dreams XD they need an interaction)
Coalpaw flinched back as Doepaw jerked awake suddenly. "Hey," his eyes hardened and he wondered what had happened. Doepaw looked scared. "Were you having a bad dream?"
~~~ Doepaw coiled back from the she kit. She felt a vine wrap around her neck and it’s thorns bury into her skin. The she cat coughed and wheezed. she watched as blood spilled from her throat. She continued to cough and as she did so blood came up aswell. The she kit grinned wickedly. “you should’ve left it the way it was.“
~~~
Doepaw jerked awake wheezing And spluttering. Her eyes searched the room taking it all in. Trying to remember where she was and what she was doing.
Coalpaw could feel the movement beside him. It jerked him from his sleep with a start. He had completely forgotten Doepaw was there with him, but the memory of her coming into the den earlier reminded him. He watched her, staring at the she-cat. She looked as if she were struggling. "Doepaw?" He whispered.
Doepaw opened an eye to look at the Tom. He seemed lonelier than he cared to admit. She felt sad for the tom the other apprentices treated him so unfairly (besides her brother who idealised him). she licked the top of his ear before Putting her head down on his back and closing her eyes welcoming sleep.
~~~
The she cat opened her eyes and she was alone. Standing before her was a kit. A fawn coloured kit. “what are you looking for?” the kit asked, pawing the dirt. Doepaw padded around to face the cat and get a look at it. it was a girl and she’d been crying. Doepaw opened her mouth to speak but felt her voice being snatched from her Instead. The she kit lifted her head to Look into Doepaw’s eyes. The she cat had stunning turquoise eyes. They were pools of mystery and sorrow. “You always come back here and you’re always looking for something. Something more. Why can’t you just leave it alone and stick with what you have?”
~~~
Back in real life Doepaw twitched and squirmed. Her body coiled in on itself like a snake waiting to attack it’s next victim.
(He is growing into such a cutie <3 and DOEPAW)
"I couldn't," he murmured softly, watching her as she curled up next to him. The warmth from her body was comforting. He hadn't shared a nest with anyone in moons. He let out a soft sigh as he rested his chin, tucking close to the she-cat.
Doepaw grinned. “Well since you pleaded for me to stay I guess I’m obliged too. So long as you don’t mind me sleeping beside you.” She purred playfully curling up beside him.
(he is such a sweetheart I can’t-)
"Well," Coalpaw's ears flattened against his head. "Could you stay? It gets lonely in here." The tom's eyes reflected sadness for a moment, but then turned embarrassment. "Only if you want, I mean. I'll be quiet."
Doepaw’s eyes danced along to the rhythm of his chuckle. it was comforting considering the situation they’d both been put in. She’d expected him to be bitter towards her resentful even. But if anything he seemed... happy? The she cat let out a long yawn. “I hate to leave you all alone but I’m exhausted. Mind if we continue talking tomorrow?” her voice came out in a soft purr, unintentionally.
Coalpaw purred. "Yeah I was surprised too when I found out fighting dosen't revolve arond strength alone. I mean, have you seen Mousestar? He can't be that strong." He couldn't help but to let out a chuckle, but it held warm amusement.
Doepaw‘s smile grew. “Yeah I did! I learned how to sneak attack and use surprises to my advantage. I mean I thought I’d be useless after this leg but even without all the strength in it I can still use it!” She grinned.
Coalpaw watched her walk over. His eyes began to reflect warmth in them as she told her about her training. For a moment, he started to imagine himself in her position, taining with Jumpwing again. The tom shook his head to clear it. "It sounds fun. Did you learn anything?"
Doepaw turned around. She was surprised he wanted her to stay. She smiled. “Okay if you insist.” she Walked over to him and sat down. she thought about where to start. she grinned as thought of a good place. “Well I almost knocked over Jumpwing. He told me too of course. Oh and I got tackled by Hazelpelt. I had no idea she was so strong.” She chuckled playfully.
"Don't leave," he told her, reaching out with a paw that just missed her tail. "Tell me about how your training went."
“Sorry.” she mumbled. “I just wanted to check up on you. I can go now though. Have fun dreaming.” She stood up and turned tail, ready to leave the charcoal Tom and allow him to continue his dream.
Coalpaw lifted his head. Doepaw's figure slowly began to become clear to him. "Tired," he murmured. "I was dreaming."
Doepaw smiled and padded in. “How are you?” she meowed. she studied his face for a moment. His heavy eyelids and dream like eyes.
(IKK HE IS SUCH A SWEETHEART INSIDE)
The rustling of the den entrance woke Coalpaw with a jump. After she had left, Cloudfeather gave him a poppyseed to help him sleep a bit through the pain. Coalpaw blinked tiredly up at her. "Huh?" He mewed drowsily. "Doepaw?"
(OMG HE BURIED IT FOR HER)
Doepaw‘s tail hung low. She knew it was just a butterfly but it was bothering her. How could it just die? The she cat was forced to push the thoughts from her mind, although it still lingered.
Doepaw entered the camp ahead of the two. She turned back to see how far behind the two cats really were. she shrugged and decided to See if Coalpaw was up. “Hey Coalpaw?” She meowed popping her head in through the medicine entrance.
Jumpwing stopped as Doepaw dropped the butterfly. He looked down at it, just staring. Doepaw seemed oddly bothered about the insect's death. He looked at Hazelpelt and signalled her to go on. Once he saw the she-cat's back turned to him, he dug his claws into the earth, pulling back grass and dirt. He wasn't a digger, but he could make a tiny shallow hole in the ground. The tom brushed the butterfly into the hole with his paw and stamped the earth back over it. He looked at it for a moment before padding over it and heading after the two cats.
The she cat popper her head up and trotted back towards the warriors. The butterfly dangling in her jaws. She dropped the butterfly in front of the two. It was a light blue butterfly and quite beautiful to look at. “It just stopped flying.” She meowed. “Its dead.” She said solemnly. “you’re right we should get going, it’s getting dark.” And with that the she cat limped away.
Jumpwing blinked. "Did he say that?" He mewed, lost in thought. It could be possible, but Jumpwing himself would never admit to having a kittypet father if he ever did have one. Did Twigleg tell Coalpaw his father was a kittypet, or did the other apprentices just assume so? The tom stood. "I think we should be heading off now." He turned and began to pad back towards the camp.
Doepaw popped her head up from the heather. “Coalpaw said that his dad was a kittypet.” The she stuffed her tail in her mouth and skunk back down into the heather again. She shouldn’t have said that and she knew that but the she cat momentarily forgot herself. She spotted the butterfly and decided to chase it.
Hazelpelt giggled at the she cats nosiness.
J(I am loving this complicated story xD)
Jumpwing let out a displeased hum. He knew Twigleg stayed in the nursery with Jaymoon after Coalpaw became an apprentice, but had to return to her duties after Doepaw and Deerpaw left the den. It must have been hard for Jaymoon. The she-cat didn't have many other friends due to all the madness she spiraled into. Twigleg understood her pain, but Coalpaw was able to keep her sane. He supposed some hearts never mend. And despite Twigleg loving the tom as apprentices, she gave up the idea of having a relationship for both her friends' happiness.
He grimaced slightly as she mentioned the age of the kits' parents. Jumpwing was getting older, and kits didn't seem like they would be coming his way anytime soon. He figured it was okay. He was a busy warrior, along with Milkwhisper. Duties weighed heavily on their shoulders and they wouldn't have much time to spend enough time with a family. He shook it away quickly. "Deerpaw probably feels the same as Doepaw about their parents. But some choose to take the events in differently than others. The tom seems blinded by all the attention Doepaw is getting with her promotion and protecting her clanmates with no battle experience, he can barely recognize when he is being uplifted."
"Coalpaw is fortunate, in a way, but I'm troubled to see him grow up so fast," the tom mewed grimly. Jumpwing shook his head. "The whispers I've heard the other warriors and apprentices say about him. It's sickening. But... have you ever wondered if his father could have been Rockpelt?" He glanced over at the she-cat. "Scorchkit and Coalpaw had to have taken after their father, and it's not far off from everything I've heard. Twigleg and Rockpelt used to be so close before Jaymoon. Rockpelt didn't seem like the type to pick and choose his responsibilities, but he's the only tom who even slightly resembles those kits." He was curious, if it was a possibility that Twigleg hid it from him when he fell in love with Jaymoon. "But it's not impossible that she kitted with someone outside of BreezeClan, either."
(c'mon now Jumpwing you're just starting rumors lmao)
Hazelpelt watched Doepaw as she spoke. “Doepaw certainly is playful. I think it’s because she’s never had someone to guide her. Her mother, Jaymoon, she’s been living in the nursery since her mates death. She talks to herself in there. The other queens say she claims she’s speaking with fawnkit.“ Hazelpelt stared on sadly at Doepaw. “Doepaw doesn’t admit it but I’ve seen the way her brother neglects her, she clings to her childish ways probably back to a better time when her farther was around.” Hazelpelt’s mentor had been Rockfall. He was a strong runner and in her opinion he seemed to have been more suited to play a striker. Doepaw‘s childish ways reminded the she cat of her mentor. “Her parents were older having kits, not unheard of to have kits but it didn’t seem likely.” She meowed as she watched Doepaw bounce about in the heather playfully. “The she cat has a tragic past that she’ll never admit to. Ive only seen her speak to her mother once since she moved out of the nursery, and Deerpaw? He avoids her at every possible opportunity. At least Coalpaw has a loving mother who will always look out for him.“ she turned her attention onto the Tom, her green eyes piercing yet sorrow swirled in them. “Coalpaw matured fast because he’s a wise cat. His seriousness comes from his lack of a father figure, always acting as the fatherly type. Leading and commandin. Doepaw clings to a past that makes her dream... it just shows you how the death or a lifestyle of one cat can so severely affect another.”
(hazel rlly be getting into it XD)
"Does she usually do this during training?" Jumpwing couldn't help but to let out a quiet chuckle as he watched Doepaw stalk through the frosted heather and jump toward the butterfly. "Coalpaw never acts like that," he told her. He couldn't help but think about the tom's father. Was that the reason for Coalpaw maturing so fast? Well, he wasn't exactly "mature," but he didn't do things other apprentices did at his age. He was humorous, but he wasn't the most playful type, more serious. "I haven't seen him play since he was in the nursery."
Doepaw heaved a breath. It was hard work going she wouldn’t deny that. But the she cat was stubborn and reluctant to take a brake. “I can practice my moves more.” She meowed. Returning Back to stalking through the heather.
The fawn cat spotted a lonely butterfly sitting on heather. The she cat wondered why it was out so late. But decided it was the perfect way to test her stalking skills. She pounced at the butterfly, missing it. She jumped in the air in an attempt to catch it. The she cat laughed as she fell back down.
Hazelpelt smiled watching Doepaw play with the butterfly. The she cat was halfway through her training, nearly finished her apprentice stages And yet she still played like a kit. Hazelpelt remembered being like that... and now? Everything seemed so complicated. She took a place down beside Jumpwing.
The tom was expecting Doepaw to hold back a bit, but despite the air being driven out of his lungs and staggering forward, and the slight pain that hit him, he was happy. Jumpwing took a breath and turned around. "Good! You almost had me down completely, which is better than nothing. You'll still have the element of surprise on your side. Keep training as a hunter, and you'll become stronger and stronger." The white and brown tom sat down. He still had a bit of pain biting at his back, but he ignored it. "Take a rest if you'd like. You've done a lot already."
Doepaw looked from Hazelpelt to Jumpwing. Hazelpelt was an averaged sized she cat but she still seemed bigger than Doepaw what with her short legs. But Jumpwing? He was Almost twice her size, it seemed impossible that this move would work on him. She took her position and stalked up to him. Her paws were light as though she were stalking Jumpwing like he was a rabbit. The she cat waited until she was no more than half a tail form his behind. She quickly turned and kicked the Tom with all her force.
Jumpwing shrugged his shoulders. "Okay. Now I know you probably want to move on to another move, but I want to see you finish the first one. You can try it on me this time. Not all your opponents will be Hazelpelt's size. This time, use as much force as you can." The tom turned his back. He knew this was only a training exercise, but he wanted to see Doepaw's full potential, and he could handle the blow.
Doepaw heaved a sigh. She looked at the two cats, they both seemed effortlessly tired. Doepaw could feel her muscles ached but she wanted to continue. “Not in the slightest!” She chirped.
The tom wondered if the move would work for her. Luckily it was just enough to make an escape. In a situation of life or death, it was certainly better than the latter. "Good job, Doepaw. Tired yet?"
Doepaw‘s head snapped in the direction of her mentor. She raked her paws against Hazelpelt (her claws in) and pushed as hard as she could. Her right leg had enough strength to force half of the she cat off of herself. unfortunately her left leg is where she stumbled. She wasn’t able to get Hazelpelt far off her but she was able to slither our form underneath.
There was a hint of amusement in Jumpwing's eyes, and while Hazelpelt wasn't ordered to do the action, he saw this as an opportunity for more learning. "Quick, Doepaw! Rake your opponent's belly with your hind paws and push up as hard as you can." If Doepaw was successful, she should be able to kick the warrior back and cause her to lose balance. Even in size, it wasn't impossible for an apprentice to do.
Hazelpelt dipped her head back in respect. She was happy to see her apprentice training and being able to participate but she couldn’t help but feel a tang of jealousy that she wasn’t the one teaching her.
Doepaw watched her mentor’s movements carefully. He was precise and smooth in his actions. The she cat swallowed. She could get it right it couldn’t be too hard after all she had taken on a fox before. Doepaw dropped back into her crouch and very slowly stalked up to Hazelpelt who was again facing the other way. She stopped about a tail length from the she cat. She turned to kick Hazelpelt but the warrior turned and jumped at her. “GAH!” Doepaw fell back with a thud, the warrior had her pinned. The she cat frowned. “That’s not fair! he didn’t tell you to do that.” Hazelpelt couldn’t help but giggle at Doepaw’s kittish behaviour. “You were too loud, I’m not going to go easy on you.” The she cats tone was light and playful but her eyes were serious.
Jumpwing nodded, bobbing his head from left to right with a shrug. It was her first time, so he wasn't expecting a very good performance, but it wasn't the worst he had seen either. "Good, but not good enough," he told her. "Your stance was nice, but the performance could use a little wok. Remember, we aren't hunting rabbits. Instead of pouncing on your victim, you'll want to study the distance between you and the enemy." Jumpwing sweeped the apprentice to the side with a nudge of his paw. He stood behind Hazelpelt. "See how I'm close enough to strike a blow, but if she were to turn and try to hit me from her position, she would miss. Follow my movement." The tom spun around, his hind paws offering Hazelpelt's back a quick, but gentle training blow while focussing his front paws on the earth. "So see, if this were a real fight, I would have driven my full weight and force down on Hazelpelt and she would have fallen to the ground. She would be in shock at the sudden attack and not know what her next move would be, and it will give you enough time to pin her." He gave Hazelpelt a thankful dip of his head. "Now try what I showed you."
Hazeltpelt nodded and turned her back on the two. The she cat waited, her ears pricked.
Doepaw dropped down in a low crouch, similar to a hunting one. She stalked through the tall heather not making a sound. She came up from the side and pounced onto Hazelpelt. She pinned her down. She looked to Jumpwing with a grin.
"Okay Hazelpelt, turn your back to Doepaw. This is an easy sneak attack." Jumpwing sat down and curled his tail over his paws. "Doepaw, you will want to crouch down and pretend you're hiding. Your enemy shouldn't know you're there. If they hear or see you, this tactic won't work and they will have an advantage." His whiskers twitched from the cold as he watched the two.
