Hawkkit woke up with a yawn, blinking slowly she stood up in her mossy nest and shook her pelt. She stretched quietly, "Thawkit?" She meowed nervously, "are you awake?" she gently prodded her den mate with her paw. Hawkkit curled her tail around her paws. Licking one of her paws smoothly and drew it over her head, brushing off some dust. *Maybe he'll want some food* she decided and quickly hurried out of the den, coming back in dragging a mouse.

Thawkit blinked, thinking for a moment. "I guess so," he mewed passively. She was right; some days the tom had woken up on the other side of the nest, and other days he was merely tolerable. Today seemed to be the ladder. He scooped in the mouse with a paw and peeled back the fur with his teeth. He pulled away a mouthful of meat, feeling the saliva pool up on his tongue. He nodded. "That was a good choice, thanks."
Hawkkit glanced at him and then back at the mouse. She scuffed her paws on the ground, "want to share this mouse with me?" She offered nervously. Hawkkit hoped he would be in a better mood today, some days he could be mean, she hated those days. Pushing it slightly towards him she flicked her ears, trying to pick up his mood, which right now was tired.
Thawkit let out a grunt and turned over in his nest in response to Hawkkit's prodding. The nest was empty, besides him. Though he had no kin, no mother or siblings to share his mossy bedding with, he was taken by one of the queens.
The scent of a mouse shook him awake almost instantly, though he blinked his wide blue eyes tiredly. "Hm?" He yawned. The mouse wasn't warm, but it wasn't old yet. Their underground camp was moist and cold enough to keep prey from expiring sooner.
