Hawkkit woke up with a yawn, blinking slowly she stood up in her mossy nest and shook her pelt. She stretched quietly, "Thawkit?" She meowed nervously, "are you awake?" she gently prodded her den mate with her paw. Hawkkit curled her tail around her paws. Licking one of her paws smoothly and drew it over her head, brushing off some dust. *Maybe he'll want some food* she decided and quickly hurried out of the den, coming back in dragging a mouse.

Thawkit blinked, thinking for a moment. "I guess so," he mewed passively. She was right; some days the tom had woken up on the other side of the nest, and other days he was merely tolerable. Today seemed to be the ladder. He scooped in the mouse with a paw and peeled back the fur with his teeth. He pulled away a mouthful of meat, feeling the saliva pool up on his tongue. He nodded. "That was a good choice, thanks."
