Rainsong had ventured out to collect what herbs he seemed low on... It just so happened that some of the herbs he needed were close to the border with Breezeclan. When the tom approached near, he had herbs in his jaw and a smile on his face. Rainsong always enjoyed going for walks, it was part of what he enjoyed about being a medicine cat, the ability to be able to truly appreciate his home without fear of ruining it with infighting or anything of that ilk... The dark grey dappled tom stopped, putting his herbs down an started to look for what he’d come for.

She flicked her tail in farewell and disappeared in amougnst leaves and sticks. Doemoon walked further into the forest. She was limping on the side that her fox bite was on. She probably would need to sit down for a bit as it was causing her great pain. But she wasn’t far from camp now.
She nodded. “Thank you.” She stood up. “Without you id probably be dea, there was one more thing though at the end of the dream there was a cat who was dripping in blood surrounded by darkness. Although I didn’t really dwell on it. I should go now I may see you sometime.” She stood up and padded out of the thicket into the cooler air.
She turned to look at Rainsong. “My mentor died during my training, she was the cat in my dream.” Her eyes stayed fixed on Rainsong. “She warned me not to ignore the signs, saying that it would only bring danger to the forest.” Doemoon blinked away tears talking of her mentor brought back sad memories. “She said that she had tried to ignore them for the reasons I am, I tried to get her to explain but she walked away...” Doemoon sighed, reluctant to go on she stopped.
”Or of death...” She mumbled so he could not hear her, or at least she thought he couldn’. “Yes but you were an apprentice. StarClan had different ideas for you. I’m a warrior, not a good one but I survive. What would they be doing sending me an omen or a prophecy if I can’t even catch prey.” She laughed a sad laugh. “Im not fit For a warrior, I cannot lead, id make foolish decisions as a mother, and I pick up the scent of herbs before I do a mouse. So why would StarClan send me a dream?” She sighed. Why was she telling him this anyways. She didn‘t know why she was but something about him made her trust him.
She flicked her tail a little annoyed that he hadn’t let her leave. When he mentioned the dream Doemoon sighed, it was best she’s did not tell him the ending as troublesome as it may seem to her. She was a regular warrior after all it meant nothing. “It’s fine.” She replied finally. “It was a dream, not some prophecy. Besides warriors don’t get strange dreams from StarClan.” She looked at the cobwebs near her. Avoiding Rainsong’s eyes.
Rainsong snorted and put a paw on Doemoon’s back, pushing her to lie back down. “I said stay still...” he mumbled as he continued to work. “Healing transcends clanship... I’m a healer first, Starclan did not call me to serve as a medicine cat if I would leave cats to bleed out in the cold...” Rainsong said. “Besides... you had a troubling dream, did you not want answers?”
”I wasn’t thinking... besides what’s it matter to you im just another warrior from an enemy clan.” She lay still whilst he worked. She couldn’t put process why he had helped her And was continuing to. She was nothing more than a stranger to him. Doemoon strained her ears as she listened to the fox’s Clumsy footsteps grow fainter. She had almost forgotten where she was, when it struck her that she was on stormclan’s side of the border. “Look thanks for your help but I shouldn’t be here...” She moved get up.
Doemoon dodged the fox’s attack but slipped on the frosty leaves and fell to the ground. She was not a fighter, at least not a good one. She should’ve listened to Rainsong and climbed the tree when she had the chance. The fox turned to her and she raked its nose. The blood from the fox’s nose splattered acrosss its face and into its eyes. Blinding it momentarily. “Be my guest to give it one last thing to remember us by.” Doemoon said turning to Rainsong.
Doemoon got up, She had not expected the medicine cat to fight. Blood dropped down her back, the fox had taken a chunk from her shoulder. The smell of blood was almost blinding. Doemoon turned to Rainsong, “How many fighting techniques do you know?” She asked him she sounded puzzled and confused, most likely from the loss of blood. Before Rainsong could reply the fox lunged at the cats.
Rainsong was not a fan of those who defied logic, and the fact that this warrior had nothing to prove to him yet still wanted to show what they could do, confused him further. Rainsong was desperately searching his memory for the few fighting lessons he’d actually had in order to be of assistance. The medicine cat jumped down, moving to Doemoon’s side. “Get Up” he snapped, not to be unkind, but because of the severity of the situation. “If you’re not going to climb then we need to be ready to fight” he added, his eyes narrowing at the Fox.
She looked up a tree momentarily letting her guard down. The fox leaped at her knocking her off balance. The she cat ignored Rainsong and pounced raking the fox’s back. She landed in the dirt and leaves. She had barely just got to her paws when the fox took hold of her scruff and threw her over the border. She hissed at the fox. Dust and dirt hung in the air. Doemoon was always strict about the warrior code but right now nothing hurt more than the hunger that arose in her belly. She grunted. Wearing down what little energy she had left. She was fully aware of the danger she was in but she wanted to prove what she could do.L
Rainsong climbed up onto one of the thick branches and set his herbs down beside him. “Climb the tree!” He called down “Forget the boundaries, you’re going to get hurt!” Rainsong had to say he was skeptical about this tired young warrior facing a fox alone... It was either she fought, and got hurt or possibly killed, or she climbs the tree and Rainsong would explain to Thornstar should they ask about Breezeclan scent. Rainsonight would have no reason to lie.
The closest tree was on Stormclan’s side. Doemoon knew better than to cross, even though there was a fox. She couldn’t leave Rainsong, he was a medicine cat who stood no chance against a fox. “Get up the tree, I’ll distract it.” Doemoon snarled at the fox challenging it. The fox padded closer to Doemoon and snapped at her giving her a warning. Doemoon searched her mind for an idea any would do. She couldn’t back down now not if she didn’t want to become its next meal.
”last night, there was an owl, it probably doesn’t mean an anything but then I had a dream... there was a cat who warned me of something...” She trailed off. Clearly she hadn’t finished but she froze staring behind Rainsong . “Don’t move...” a Low growl erupted from the back of her throat. A thick orange pelt was visible through the trees. A fox. Doemoon didn’t care how tired she was this Fox was a threat to the clans and to the remaining prey. The fox snarled at the two cats and had been obviously been observing the cats for awhile.
Doemoon nodded in agreement. “I fear this year will never worse...” she thought for a moment. “Rainsong? May I ask you something?” She pawed the ground nervously. She probably shoulldn’t even dare think about it but she had to know. If Coalbreeze found out he would probably claw her ears off. “Swear you won’t tell anyone?“ she looked at him her stare hard and her expression serious.
“With my luck, there will be none.” She laughed half heartedly. “I’m not a good hunter, or a warrior for that matter...” She sighed. Wishing that wasn‘t the case, Doemoon had always been interested in herbs and such but her parents wanted her to be a warrior. “what herbs do you have there?” She’s flicked her tail indicating to the herbs near Rainsong’s paws.
”Doemoon...” he repeated softly, testing the name on his tongue “such a gentle name” Rainsong wouldn’t be surprised to know that Doemoon didnt know of him, medicine cats weren’t notorious for getting out much. “Hunting at this time of year is hard for us all, you seem tired... How scarce is food for your clan?” He asked in a gentle tone. Prey was scarce in his own territory but perhaps he could help Doemoon out... His job was to heal after all, and to help those who needed him, and in Rainsong’s mind, healing transcended clans.
she smiled. “I’m Doemoon.” She hadn’t ever met a medicinecat besides their own. “I was hunting, but with prey being scarce and me being clumsy I haven’t managed to catch any.” She chuckled. Doemoon was a lithe warrior. Her eyes were sky blue and they danced in the sunlight. Her front left paw quite visibly white. But she flicked her tail over her front paws to keep them warm. She fluffed out her fur to try and ignore the cold, but even at that it still clung onto her.
The tom laughed a little and shook his head when she sat and apologised. “Please, I do not think you are a threat to me... I’m not a warrior on patrol” Rainsong said and and smiled, able to get a proper look at the warrior now that she had come closer. “My name is Rainsong, I am Stormclan‘s medicine cat” he explained kindly “and who might you be? I’ll admit I haven’t met any Breezeclan warriors myself... Not since I went to a gathering as an apprentice” he added and shrugged.
The she cat heard Rainsong. She froze, if they were to attack her she wouldn’t stand a chance. She sighed. Hiding would do no good. She stood up and stretched her muscles, resting had been a bad idea as her muscles pinched when she stood up. “Yeah, I’m fine.” She called back. By the sound of the cat it was a tom. She flicked her tail and padded across the crunchy leaves. Her head low. She sat down at the border. “Sorry“ she said “I hadn’t realised I was this close to the border, I mean no harm.” She mewed cautiously.
Doemoon was in a bad mood. She did not get much sleep the night before. Her eyes were sagging in her head and her paws felt heavy. Above that she was starving. Haven not eaten much the day before. She had tried to catch a squirrel further back. Doemoon had always been a clumsy cat but with her focus not entirely on her prey, she had missed. Doemoon had been wandering around for awhile now. Without realising she was right beside stormclan’s border. Doemoon slumped down against a tree, her pale brown pelt glittered in the sunlight. Her breath swirled in the air, leafbare was closing in on the territories fast. The white spots lit up on the she cats back, And her flank rose and fell slowly, as her hunger and her exhaustion attacked her all at once.
